JUST IN: Trump Official Confirms Ilhan Omar Is Under Investigation

White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed Sunday that federal authorities are investigating allegations involving Rep. Ilhan Omar, while refusing to reveal details about what he described as an ongoing criminal probe.

Homan made the disclosure during an appearance on “The Sunday Briefing” after being pressed on whether the government had evidence that the Minnesota Democrat committed immigration or naturalization fraud.

“I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening,” Homan said.

He then made clear that elected office would not shield anyone from immigration laws if investigators ultimately uncover wrongdoing.

“If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law. So, I’ll leave it at that. We’ll let HSI, Homeland Security Investigations, continue the investigation.”

Asked directly whether he was confirming that Omar herself is under investigation, Homan answered in the affirmative.

“I’m confirming that ICE is, yeah — look, I said months ago that there’s something that’s been reported and needs to be looked at.”

The comments mark the latest public confirmation from a senior Trump administration official that federal agencies are examining allegations surrounding Omar’s immigration history.

Omar has for years faced accusations that she married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a man critics have alleged is her brother, as part of an immigration arrangement. The allegation has not been proven publicly, and Omar has repeatedly denied it.

In December, Omar dismissed the claims as “bigoted lies.”

Tom Homan‘s remarks come after Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin publicly addressed the same allegations and said investigators were examining possible wrongdoing connected to Omar and her family’s immigration history.

“Something’s going to happen. … We know that she married her brother to try to bring him to the United States. We know he now lives in London.

“There may be more to this, the whole family migration and possibly some illegal activity for them to come to the United States to begin with. … If we can prove it, that you shouldn’t have been here in the first place, we will deport you.”

No criminal charges have been announced, and Homan declined to discuss what evidence investigators may possess.

Vice President JD Vance also said in May that the Justice Department was reviewing whether Omar committed immigration fraud.

“You read the things about Ilhan Omar … who she married and whether she didn’t marry this person or that person,” Vance said then. “It certainly seems like something fishy is there, but everybody’s entitled to equal justice under the law.”

Vance had previously raised the allegations during a March podcast appearance and said he had discussed possible legal action with White House immigration adviser Stephen Miller.

“We think Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” Vance said at the time.

Omar later denied that a Justice Department investigation was taking place.

Homan also stressed Sunday that proven fraud during the naturalization process can carry serious consequences, including the potential loss of citizenship through the legal denaturalization process.

“If someone lies through that process to becoming a citizen, and we can prove they, in fact, lied or misrepresented themselves, we can absolutely denaturalize them. We’ve done it before many times over the last 40 years I’ve been around, so it’s a process,” he said.

For now, federal officials have not publicly disclosed the scope of the investigation, the evidence being reviewed or whether prosecutors are considering charges.

But Homan’s comments Sunday confirmed that the allegations surrounding Omar have moved beyond political rhetoric and are being examined by federal immigration investigators.
