Cindy Crawford’s family is mourning the sudden death of her only son, Presley Gerber, who died Sunday at age 27.

A representative for Crawford, her husband, businessman Rande Gerber, and their daughter, Kaia Gerber, confirmed the death in a statement.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner show Presley died at a rehabilitation facility on Sept. 20.

An autopsy had not yet been completed as of Monday, and authorities had not publicly released a cause of death.

Presley was the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber and the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber.

Like his famous mother and younger sister, Presley built a career in fashion at a young age.

He signed with IMG Models at 15 and later walked in shows for major fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger.

He also appeared in campaigns for Calvin Klein and Celine and made his runway debut at a Moschino show in Los Angeles in 2016.

In recent years, however, Presley had also been candid about his struggles with mental health and addiction.

His sister discussed those struggles in an August 2026 Vogue interview, where the magazine described his battle with drug addiction as lasting roughly a decade.

“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone.”

“I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing,” she added.

Kaia also spoke about Presley’s willingness to publicly discuss what he was going through.

“My parents, for most of our lives, were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’ There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them,” Kaia told Vogue, referring to Presley’s openness on social media about his mental health and drug use struggles.

Presley himself had repeatedly addressed those struggles publicly.

In a since-deleted Instagram video from December 2025, he discussed panic attacks, recovery and medications he had been taking.

“Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now,” the outlet reported, noting that he said he wanted to reach “people in many ways.”

“A. So you feel like you’re not alone, because that is how I feel most of the time and I have a feeling that if I saw all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it. And the second thing is, hopefully I find some people out here and are willing to help or know someone that could help,” he said, via People.

Presley also spoke about his mental health during a 2023 podcast appearance.

“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s alI I need to do.”

Presley had continued speaking publicly about treatment and recovery in the months before his death.

For now, his family has asked for privacy as investigators work to determine how he died.
