Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce’s New Neighbors Rip Celeb Couple: ‘Tremendous Blow’
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may be accustomed to getting the VIP treatment, but their new neighbors in an exclusive Ohio community are making it clear that celebrity status doesn’t come with a free pass.
The superstar couple’s plans to turn a sprawling $5.35 million Lake Erie mansion into a private retreat have sparked a heated neighborhood battle over fencing, landscaping and a century-old sewer line.
Residents of Bratenahl, an affluent village outside Cleveland, are pushing back against proposed renovations, arguing that the changes threaten the peace and character of their longtime neighborhood.
Katherine Bolton, who has lived next door for 35 years, described the arrival of the celebrity couple as a “tremendous blow” to “the peace and quiet in Bratenahl.”
“There’s a new owner, who is an absentee owner, who is not going to be here,” Bolton told the village’s Architectural Review Board, according to meeting records obtained by the Daily Mail.
Property records reportedly show that a company connected to Kelce purchased the massive estate in March. The 21,000-square-foot mansion boasts eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a guest cottage and a former ballroom converted into an entertainment space.
But it’s not the luxurious property itself that’s causing the uproar.

Bolton raised concerns about plans to plant approximately 50 evergreen trees near a shared sewer pipe dating back roughly 100 years. She claimed the landscaping could cause significant damage to the aging infrastructure.
“Planting 50 evergreen trees just ten feet from a 100-year-old clay sewer line is virtually guaranteed to cause severe root intrusion, pipe structural failure and catastrophic sewage backups,” Bolton warned.

She said protecting the pipe could cost $75,000, raising questions about who would foot the bill if something went wrong.
Representatives for the property pushed back, saying the owners had already spent $7,500 repairing a damaged section of the sewer line and cleaning the system.
Meanwhile, longtime resident Chuck Bauernschmidt criticized the removal of vegetation surrounding the estate.
“It’s now ridiculous,” he complained. “All the trees are gone.”

He also questioned whether the proposed fence, featuring pointed metal tops, could endanger local deer.
The property originally sought an eight-foot fence, but the plans were reduced to six feet following objections.
Jacob Kutz of Tiny Construction defended the security measures, explaining that the homeowners wanted greater protection and privacy.
“The house was one of the largest sales in Cuyahoga County, so the homeowner is looking for privacy and security,” Kutz said.
The revised fence was moved farther inside the property boundary, with additional gates installed to address neighbors’ concerns.
Despite the complaints, the Architectural Review Board unanimously approved the six-foot fence. Officials also approved portions of the landscaping while rejecting proposed shoreline trees that could eventually obstruct views.
Not everyone opposed the project. Former planning commission chairwoman Victoria Broer welcomed the decision to keep the fence away from Lake Erie.
“I do appreciate that the fence is not going all the way to the lake, because that would be in my view,” she said.
Taylor Swift and Kelce’s representatives must now return with revised landscaping plans, leaving the multimillion-dollar privacy project facing another round of scrutiny.
For a couple hoping to escape the spotlight, their Ohio getaway has already become the talk of the neighborhood.
