Biden Attorney General Speaks Out on Mike Pence Classified Document Findings

On Tuesday, United States Attorney General Merrick Garland answered questions surrounding the classified documents that were found at former Vice President Mike Pence’s Indiana home.

Earlier in the day, about a dozen classified documents were found at Pence’s home. The findings came after Pence had his lawyer search the home “out of an abundance of caution.”

This comes just days after another batch of documents were found at President Joe Biden’s home in Delaware.

“Vice President Pence was unaware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents at his personal residence,” Pence’s rep. Greg Jacob said in a statement. “Vice President Pence understands the high importance of protecting sensitive and classified information and stands ready and willing to cooperate fully with the National Archives and any appropriate inquiry.”

While speaking to reporters, Merrick Garland refused to announce if a special counsel would be named for Pence after the findings.

“I am unable to comment,” Garland said.

One Twitter user thought Garland had “a bit of a grin” when he made the comments.

“He has a bit of a grin, wonder why? why do the security officers assigned to said documents not follow established process? there is process,” they said.

That’s the process for the military and Congress. That’s not true for the IC agencies and the NSC and the VP equivalent. Their rules aren’t as strict.

The development surrounding Pence is ironic to say the least considering Pence once hammered former President Donald Trump for having classified documents in his possession.

“Did you take any classified documents with you from the white house?” Biden was asked during an interview with ABC News after classified documents were found in Trump’s home.

Pence replied: “I did not.”

ABC News host David Muir followed up: “Do you see any reason for anyone to take classified docs from the White House.”

“There would be no reason,” Pence ironically said.
