Elon Fires Back After Instagram “Fact Checks” His Tweet About Jacob Chansley
Twitter CEO Elon Musk had some choice words for Instagram after they “fact-checked” a screenshot of his tweet once it was posted to the social media platform.
The fact-check contested that Musk’s tweet was misleading or “false.” Musk’s tweet read, “Chansley got 4 years in prison for a non-violent, police-escorted tour!? Dave Chapelle was violently assaulted on stage by a guy with a knife. That guy got a $3000 fine & no prison time.”
The tweet came in response to bombshell never-before-seen video footage released by Fox News’ Tucker Carlson which showed Jacob Chansley, often called the “QAnon Shaman,” being escorted by police officers throughout the Capitol during the events of January 6, 2021.

Instagram’s fact-checkers claimed Chansely was not led by police through the Capitol. Musk responded to Instagram’s fact check in a tweet posted early Saturday morning. “The Capitol Police literally opened the Senate chamber door for him on camera,” he wrote.
“But who are you going to believe, Instagram ‘fact-checkers’ or your own lying eyes!?” Musk added.

On Friday, Musk got into a Twitter spat with leftist commentator Keith Olbermann after he called on his followers to report one of Musk’s tweets defending Chansley, claiming it was “violating rules by denying a violent event.”
Musk’s tweet said Chansley was “falsely portrayed in the media as a violent criminal who tried to overthrow the state and who urged others to commit violence.”
Firing back at Olbermann, Musk responded, “Have you considered a career in comedy?”
