Trump Seeks to Block Pence from Testifying in January 6 Probe Despite Ex-Vp’s Compliance with Subpoena
Last week it was reported that former Vice President Mike Pence would comply with a federal judge’s order to testify in Trump’s January 6 probe. Now, former President Trump will aim to prevent his ex-VP from testifying in the federal grand jury investigation.
According to a sources, “Former President Donald Trump is moving to block former Vice President Mike Pence from testifying before a federal grand jury investigating Trump’s role in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election.”
Pence’s spokesperson, Devin O’Malley, said in a statement last Wednesday.”Vice President Pence will not appeal the Judge’s ruling and will comply with the subpoena as required by law.” Back in March, Pence said “We’re going to respect the decisions of the court, and that may take us all the way to the highest court in the land.”
If Trump is successful in blocking Pence from testifying, it means that Pence would not be required to appear before the federal grand jury to provide information or evidence related to the investigation. Essentially, it would prevent Pence from providing potentially information on Trump’s role in the events of January 6, 2021. However, if the judge’s order stands and Pence is required to testify, he would have to comply with the subpoena and provide information and evidence related to the investigation.
