Buttigieg Says Minorities Are More Likely To Die In Car Crashes Due To “Discrimination”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made some questionable comments in a recent interview with Al Sharpton, arguing that minorities are more likely to die in vehicle-related accidents as a result of discrimination.

“We’ve got a crisis when it comes to roadway fatalities in America. We lose about forty thousand people every year. It’s a level that’s comparable to gun violence, and we see a lot of racial disparities,”  the Transportation Secretary said.

“Black and brown Americans, tribal citizens, and rural residents are much more likely to lose their lives, whether it’s in the car or as a pedestrian being hit by a car. There are a lot of reasons, related to discrimination, related to even the ways that roads are designed and built,” Buttigieg claimed.

Clearly, cars and roads are racist and programmed to target minorities; how else could you explain a rise in vehicular accidents in areas with growing populations?
