REPORT: Trump Considering A Surprising Pick For Vice President

Published

on

Reports emerging late Thursday have indicated a seemingly unlikely potential pick for the 2024 V ice Presidency by former President Donald J. Trump. Amidst widespread speculation, a source revealed to The Calvin Coolidge Project that former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Benjamin Carson is “the leading frontrunner” to join Trump on the GOP ticket.

As noted by Michael Schwarz writing for The Western Journal, Trump’s choice of running mate carries much more significance than normal due to the 77-year-old Republican’s limit to just one more four-year term. He wrote, “Urgency surrounds his campaign. He would need someone to help him win. Then, he would have much to do and a short time in which to do it.”

Thus, familiarized already with Washington, D.C.’s workings and an established, provably loyal partner of Trump’s, Carson may hold an advantage over comparative newcomers like entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy or media icon Tucker Carlson. While both would serve to energize the GOP base, both could also have a potentially costly learning curve.

Most of the conservative commentator’s followers seemed to respond positively to the report. One user, John Bind responding via X wrote, “Wow. Would not have guessed that. I don’t know how formidable Ben Carson would be in 2028. He’s very soft spoken. His policy positions are rock solid though. It would be hilarious to watch leftists squirm calling Trump a “white supremacist” with a black VP but that’s not really a good reason to support it, is it? L.O.L.”

Former Georgia State Representative and U.S. Senate candidate Vernon Jones posted favorably about Carson as a potential VP, writing, “This would be a great choice. Dr. Ben Carson is a God-fearing patriot! #MAGA.” He also shared an image in the post quoting Dr. Carson saying, “I always pray for God’s guidance in my life and he always provides it.”

Carson has been a steadfast supporter of Trump throughout his legal battles and his candidacy for president in 2024. As recently as Nov. 1st he posted a picture of himself with the former President along with the caption, “It’s not just America that needs President Donald Trump back, the world does.”

He offered Trump a formal endorsement on Oct. 29th, writing, “Our nation is in desperate need of strong leadership. A President who fights for the American people, our freedoms, our safety, and our future. Donald J. Trump is that leader and I am proud to give him my full endorsement for President of the United States today. Join me in this fight to Make America Great Again!”
