MSNBC Analyst Warns Trump Could ‘Turn Off The Internet’ If Re-Elected

Former Bush and Trump administration official turned MSNBC contributor Miles Taylor claimed that his former boss will “shut off the internet” if re-elected in 2024.

As former President Trump continues to surge in the polls, corporate and left-wing media outlets have been running stories about how Trump will become a “dictator” if re-elected. Opinion pieces on the topic have been pumped out by the Atlantic, the Washington Post and the New York Times, while CNN and MSNBC have run dozens of segments warning of the bizarre claim.

The sentiment has also been repeated by anti-Trump politicians such as Liz Cheney, which was referenced by MSNBC’s Jen Psaki during an interview with Taylor.

“Liz Cheney has been talking about, that I am also obsessed with – is kind of what damage he could do within government without even necessarily breaking the law,” Psaki said. “Like how he could use the levers of government to bend to his will. You’ve worked in the government, what scares you the most?”

Taylor responded by saying that the possibilities are “limitless,” adding that he thought about the possibility of a Trump dictatorship throughout his tenure. “The biggest concerns for me are on the national security side. I think Americans still don’t understand the full extent of the president’s powers and things Donald Trump could do bubble-wrapped in legalese that would be damaging to the republic,” he said.

“And one of those that I’ve noted is there’s something in the White House called the Doomsday Book. And for the first time, DHS gave authorization for me to mention this publicly. And the fact that there are concerns that that book, which is supposed to be used to protect the country in instances of armed foreign invasion or rebellion, it’s the president’s most extraordinary powers, could be picked up by Trump and used for domestic political purposes,” he continued.

“He could invoke powers we’ve never heard a president of the United States invoke, potentially to shut down companies or turn off the internet or deploy the US military on US soil. We don’t know because, you know, the things that are in there, the emergency powers of the president, aren’t widely known to the American people.”

Ironically, Taylor warned MSNBC viewers that Trump would “weaponize the government” against his political opponents.
