‘Praise Goes To God’: NFL Rookie Star Thanks God As Texans Reach Playoffs
In an emotional interview following the Houston Texans’ clinch of a postseason berth, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud attributed his and the team’s success to divine intervention.
Stroud, who has quickly become the beacon of hope for the Texans, expressed his heartfelt thanks to his “Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” after the game.
“Man, it’s a blessing,” Stroud said, his voice heavy with emotion. “I can’t do nothing but just thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, man.”
Throughout the season, Stroud has been seen writing messages on his wristband before games, a practice he revealed as a tribute to his faith and personal motivations. Among the symbols and phrases, he includes a cross, the number 777, and his favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6.

“I just feel like God wouldn’t put nothing on me that I couldn’t handle. And I feel like who I am as a person, the work I know I put in, that’s plenty,” said Stroud.
The rookie delivered a stellar performance in a crucial NFL game, playing a key role in the Texans’ journey to the playoffs. He passed for 264 yards and contributed two touchdowns. The Texans then fortified their lead with a critical defensive play, culminating in a 23-19 win over Indianapolis on Saturday night.
Beyond his personal faith, Stroud acknowledged the collective effort of the team, deflecting the spotlight from himself and highlighting the contributions of his teammates. “It’s not just me out there.”
The rookie quarterback’s humility and leadership have not only endeared him to fans but also have provided a much-needed lift to the city of Houston. “I’m just blessed enough to be the vessel that Christ picked to lead this great franchise, so I can do nothing but just thank the Lord,” said Stroud.
The Texans will play the Cleveland Browns this weekend in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

“Honestly, it’s only 2-3 Quarterbacks that I would take over CJ Stroud…that’s Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson & maybe Josh Allen. He’s that Special”
