Donald Trump Jr. Turns Heads With Comment On Tucker Carlson As VP: ‘On The Table’
In an interview with Newsmax, Donald Trump Jr. made headlines by suggesting that Tucker Carlson could be a potential vice-presidential pick for his father, former President Donald Trump.
The conversation which focused on various potential running mates for Trump, saw Trump Jr. expressing his support for the former Fox News host. “I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson,” he said, highlighting a need for a candidate who is “principally in alignment as well as aggressive.”
Trump’s son criticized the current Republican leadership in Washington, D.C. as well. “The Republicans in Washington, D.C., are weak. You can have the House, the Senate, and they’ll still roll over,” he stated.
When asked directly about the seriousness of considering Carlson as a vice-presidential candidate, Trump Jr. responded, “Clearly, it would be on the table, right? They’re very friendly. I think they agree on virtually all of these things. They certainly agree on stopping the never-ending wars.”

Additionally, Trump Jr. mentioned Ben Carson, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under his father’s administration, as another potential candidate. He described Carson as “a great American” who is “steadfast and loyal.”
The suggestion of Carlson signals an interesting shift in the potential pool of vice-presidential candidates, traditionally chosen from established political figures. Carlson, known for his strong opinions and influence among conservative audiences, could represent a strategic choice aimed at energizing the Republican base.
Trump Jr. also noted his personal opinion against considering Nikki Haley, the former U.N. Ambassador, as a potential vice-presidential candidate. “That’s my opinion. I don’t make these decisions. I don’t think that’s currently really on the table,” he said.
During his Fox News hosted town hall in Iowa earlier this month, Trump declared that he had actually already picked his vice presidential candidate. “I know who it’s going to be,” Trump joked.
“You give us a hint,” Bret Baier asked.
“We’ll do another show sometime,” Trump said.
The selection of a vice-presidential candidate typically occurs closer to the party’s national convention or after the presumptive nominee for the presidency has been determined. While Trump is running away with the GOP nominee after Monday’s caucus, the rumor mill is still turning as to who Trump’s backup would be.
As of now, there are several potential candidates being speculated as Trump’s pick. Some of the names being mentioned include:
South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Dr. Ben Carson, and former GOP opponent Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump has indicated he will go more with his gut instinct in choosing his running mate this time, as opposed to the considerations that led him to choose Mike Pence in 2016.
In December, Tucker Carlson expressed his support for Ramaswamy as a potential Vice Presidential candidate alongside Trump. “I kind of like Vivek. I think he’s one of those people who everyone beats up on… for being he’s a phony and all this stuff.”
Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur known for his “anti-woke” stance, has stood outside the traditional political spectrum of roles. He has often emerged in discussions as a possible Vice Presidential choice for Trump.
