Jon Stewart, the renowned ex-anchor of “The Daily Show,” has revealed his plan to rejoin the program part-time. His comeback follows a notable hiatus since 2015, after revolutionizing political satire on TV during his 16-year tenure.
Coinciding with the buildup to the 2024 U.S. elections, an era already brimming with political hype, Stewart’s re-entry is anticipated to significantly influence the current, divided state of late-night TV with his trademark sharp commentary.
During his original stint on “The Daily Show,” Stewart garnered acclaim for his unique mix of humor and serious journalism, turning the show into a pivotal cultural touchstone that swayed public opinion and political conversations. His innovative style of presenting news and critiquing political figures, which merged satire with earnest analysis, resonated particularly with younger viewers.

In 2015, Jon Stewart signed a four-year deal with HBO to create digital content. Under this deal, he produced and hosted a series of short-form digital videos called “The Daily Show Presents: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library.” These videos intended to humorously analyze President Donald Trump’s tweets.
Stewart directed his debut film, “Rosewater,” which was released in 2014. The film is based on the memoir “Then They Came for Me” by Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari and tells the story of Bahari’s imprisonment in Iran. Stewart also directed “Irresistible,” a political satire film, which was released in 2020.
He has made occasional appearances on various television shows and news programs. He also returned to “The Daily Show” as a guest multiple times. In 2020, Stewart launched a podcast called “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” where he discusses current events, politics, and other topics with guests. Stewart also released a book titled “The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History,” which chronicles the history of the show and features interviews with cast and crew members.
