Hanson’s journey in journalism was marked by her passion and innovation. She joined the Action News 5 team in 2021 as the Leader of Digital Innovation. Her role was pivotal in driving the Action News 5 Digital Desk, where she infused her creativity and energy.
Amanda was not just a colleague but a friend whose “infectious energy and unwavering dedication” propelled the team to new heights. She was also a key advisor in digital matters, particularly excelling in social media.

Her move to her hometown of Memphis in 2021 to work at WMC Action News Five was a testament to her dedication to her roots and community.
The news of Amanda’s passing came as a shock to many. She experienced a medical emergency earlier this week and died due to complications. Her untimely death at 38 has left a void in the journalism community and among her loved ones.
