Biden victory certified in Arizona

The results of the election in the state of Arizona have officially been certified in favor of Democrat Joe Biden, sending another loss to President Donald Trump.

Arizona has also rejected legal efforts to delay the certification by President Trump and his legal team or associates amid cries of voter fraud. Trump’s legal team has yet to provide any substantial evidence that would have delayed the certification in Arizona, therefore leading to Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Secretary of State, Katie Hobbs, stated the following, “despite the unprecedented challenges, Arizonans showed up for our democracy… This election was conducted with transparency, accuracy and fairness in accordance with Arizona’s laws and election procedures, despite numerous unfounded claims to the contrary.”

The Republican Governor of Arizona, Doug Ducey, also signed off on the certification for Arizona’s electoral college slate and could face backlash from Republican voters on social media over the action.

Some of the legal challenges came from Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, as reported:

The certification comes as two of Trump’s attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis, participated in an unofficial hearing hosted by some Republican Arizona lawmakers. They urged the state to ignore certification and have the state legislature appoint its own slate of Electoral College electors, a legally dubious course of action that Trump has amplified since it became clear he lost the 2020 vote.

The president has recently suggested to Maria Bartiromo that his legal challenges may not make it to the Supreme Court, but he has not yet conceded.

Trump also suggested that Joe Biden should prove his votes were legitimate, but the burden of proof remains on the accuser.
