Trump to give Devin Nunes Presidential Medal of Freedom
President Donald Trump plans to give Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) the Presidential Medial of Freedom, per a report on the Washington Post.
Trump said back in October of 2018 that he thought Nunes deserved a a “medal of honor” for how he handled the Department of Justice during the investigation into the 2016 election and alleged Russian meddling.
Back in 2018, Trump denied that there was any collusion among Russian operatives and his campaign in relation to the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton. Trump, at the time, also spoke against Robert Mueller and his investigation. GOP members often labeled the Mueller report as a “witch hunt” and shamed him on social media.
As stated on an older report from USA Today:
“If this turns out as everyone thinks it will, Devin Nunes should get the Medal of Honor,” he said. “What he’s gone through, and his bravery, he should get a very important medal.”
Apparently realizing that the Medal of Honor is awarded for military valor, Trump then added, “Maybe we’ll call it the Medal of Freedom because we actually give them, the high awards for civilians.”
The medial appears to have come to fruition and Trump now plans to deliver the Medal of Freedom to Nunes.
This is the tenth term in the House of Representatives for Nunes and he’s slated to receive the Medal of Freedom from President Donald Trump sometime this week.
President Trump is also set to appear at an event in DC on January 6th where Sen. Ted Cruz is leading several other GOP senators in objection to Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
