MSNBC Demonizes Rural Voters As Threats To Democracy: ‘Rural White Rage’

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosted former Washington Post columnist Paul Waldman and university professor Tom Schaller for a discussion on their new book titled “White Rural Rage: The Threat To American Democracy.” Schaller wasted no time in erupting into a lengthy anti-white tirade where he indiscriminately labelled rural white voters as “Christian nationalists” who despise Democracy and engage in “election denialism,” among other things.

“Why are white rural voters a threat to democracy at this point? You would think, looking at Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s background, that the opposite would be true,” “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked the authors.

Schaller answered by describing the book as an analysis of “the fourfold interconnected threat” that white rural voters pose to the country.

They’re the most racist, xenophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-gay, geodemographic group in the country. Second, they’re the most conspiracist group. QAnon support and subscribers, election denialism, COVID denialism and scientific skepticism, Obama birtherism,” Schaller, who works as a professor of political science at the University of Maryland, went on to say of rural white voters. “Third, anti-democratic sentiments. They don’t believe in an independent press, free speech. They’re most likely to say the president should be able to act unilaterally without any checks from Congress or the courts or the bureaucracy.”

Continuing his anti-white rant, Schaller claimed that the demographic has a high percentage of “white nationalists and Christian nationalists.”

He concluded by claiming that the demographic is the most likely to “excuse or justify violence as an acceptable alternative to peaceful public discussion.”
