Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has called for the 15-year-old black St. Louis female who repeatedly smashed a white student’s head into the concrete to be charged as an adult.

The victim, who is a minor and has not been identified, remains in critical condition in an area hospital as a result of the gruesome beating. Video footage shows the attacker repeatedly slamming the victim’s head into the sidewalk, causing her to have a seizure. She was transported to an area hospital with a “severe head injury” and remains in critical condition.

On Saturday, St. Louis police arrested a 15-year-old girl in connection with the attack. She is currently facing assault charges, according to department spokesperson Vera Clay. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has since added his thoughts on the matter and called for the attacker to be charged as an adult.

“This evil and complete disregard for human life has no place in Missouri, or anywhere,” Bailey wrote in an X post.  “I am praying for the victim. The criminal should be charged and tried as an adult. If the victim dies, that offense should rise to a homicide.”

After the incident occurred, the school made a statement, saying, “It is a tragedy anytime children are hurt. Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue for which we all need to take ownership and work towards a resolution for the sake of our children. The Hazelwood School District offers our sincerest condolences to everyone involved, and will offer additional emotional support from our support and crisis team to those in need.”

The school has faced mounting pressure over allegations of past violence that were allegedly covered up by the school. The district has also received rewards for its commitment to anti-white, “diversity, equity and inclusion” programs. In 2022, the Hazelwood School District was awarded the North County Incorporated (NCI) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Award .

“Hazelwood School District acknowledges that complex, social and historical factors contribute to inequity within our school district,” reads the district’s website.
