REPORT: Reba McEntire Called Taylor Swift An ‘Entitled Brat’

Country singing superstar Reba McEntire reportedly sent a shot across the bow at Taylor Swift, accusing the platinum-selling pop artist of being an “entitled brat” according to the New York Post, a rebuke she claimed she never made.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the 68-year-told singer of this year’s Super Bowl National Anthem denied that she told associates it was disgraceful to look up at the Jumbotron and see Swift laughing and sipping a drink during her performance. The accusation originally came from the Facebook group America Loves Liberty, which wrote that McEntire was “disappointed” with the lack of respect paid by the “Bad Blood” singer to the national anthem that day.

“Reba McEntire [sic] talks about how disappointed she was to look up at the big screen while performing The National Anthem, only to see Taylor Swift laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event,” said a post on the group’s page, adding McEntire allegedly said, “I let her have it afterward. She’s an entitled little brat.”

Not true, according to the “Only In My Mind” singer.

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,” McEntire wrote in response. “I did not say this. Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry.”

As the Post notes, Swift was actually seen standing next to actress Blake Lively with her hand over her heart during McEntire’s performance. She has been a staple at Kansas City Chiefs games since going public about her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce last year. The couple were lucky enough to celebrate a 25-22 over the San Francisco 49ers that day.

McEntire, who faced the daunting task of living up to Whitney Houston’s stunning Super Bowl National Anthem 12 years after the singer’s death, received an outpouring of support from fans in response to her denial.

“I’ve never heard Reba say a negative word about anyone. She’s a gem,” one follower wrote.

“Reba is a beautiful person inside and out .. I knew she would never say those things,” another added.

“This is why I love Reba, and why I would never believe that article regardless. She would never stoop to being that kind of cruel or hateful. Kudos for sharing this, and the truth!!” wrote a third in a reply that received nearly 1,000 likes.

Halfway through her two-year global “Eras” tour, Swift has been the subject of heated rhetoric around her commercial success, social influence, and even political affiliations. After previously endorsing Joe Biden for president, Swift now faces calls from the right to sit out the 2024 election or risk alienating swaths of her Swifties fanbase. Some commentators like Candace Owens have clapped back at Swift for driving young women towards relationship grievances while others have highlighted the relationship between Kelce and his partnership with a movie production taking advantage of new Biden green energy tax credits.
