REPORT: Detroit Lions Star Cornerback Goes Missing

Cameron Sutton, the standout cornerback for the Detroit Lions, has gone missing as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). The 29-year-old football player is currently wanted on serious charges, prompting a widespread search about his whereabouts and his well-being.

The HCSO took to social media early this morning to issue a public appeal for assistance in locating Sutton, who is wanted for domestic battery by strangulation, a correction from an earlier charge of aggravated battery – domestic violence.

Phil Martello, representing the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, informed ESPN on Wednesday that authorities have not been able to find Sutton since March 7, the day the arrest warrant was issued. Early on that date, police were called to a residence in Lutz, Florida, following a report that Sutton had allegedly assaulted a woman and then left the scene.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson told MLive, “He’s been ducking us. Our deputies have exhausted all leads. He’s got vehicles and a home nearby and he hasn’t been there. He’s turned off his phone.”

A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office disclosed to ESPN that there were visible injuries on the woman’s body, indicating evidence of assault.

The Detroit Lions said in a statement earlier, “We became aware of the ongoing legal situation involving Cam Sutton this morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and will not have further comment at this time.”

In March of last year Sutton agreed to a three-year contract at $33 million, including $22.5 million in guaranteed money.

Sutton was known for his versatility in the defensive backfield, able to play both as a cornerback and a safety. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2017. Sutton played college football at the University of Tennessee, where he made a name for himself as a skilled defensive back.
