Trump says no, America won’t pay for Harry and Meghan’s security

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced plans to move to California and it would cost an estimated $1 million in security. President Trump says there’s no way that American taxpayers are footing the bill for this, and that the royal couple must pay for their own security.

Specifically, President Trump stated, “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!

This comes after a report that the royal couple is leaving their spot in Canada and heading to LA after learning that the Canadian borders will be shut down, per a report on Page Six.

Page Six reported on Friday that the couple left their $14 million bolthole in Canada and took a private jet to the Los Angeles area after President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the borders were closing amid the coronavirus crisis

However, there’s a catch. There was a rep for Harry and Meghan who stated that they had no plans to ask the United States government for the security. The rep said, “the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”

Either way, many Americans are glad to hear that their taxes won’t pay for security for Harry and Meghan.

Trump’s message is stated below, followed by several responses.
