Queen Camilla Shares First Update On Kate Middleton Since Diagnosis
Queen Camilla has shared good news about Kate Middleton, the first since her video announcing she will be undergoing preventative chemotherapy after receiving a cancer diagnosis.
During a tour of Shrewsbury Farmers’ Market on Wednesday, Camilla was approached by two little girls who offered handmade cards to her in support of the princess. “I know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support,” the queen told the girls.
She promised Lois, six, and Harriet, 10, that she would transport both cards “carefully” in response to Harriet’s apology that they had become “a bit creased” due to the wind.
“I’ll take them carefully and will make sure she knows they’re coming,” the Queen told the two girls.

Speaking with the Telegraph afterward, the young girl said she and her sister wanted to let the royal family know that they are loved.
“We heard the news and I wanted to hold the poster up to show my love to Kate,” Harriet said.
Their mother added, “She said she certainly will send her love,” adding that they were surprised the queen was able to get so close as to receive the cards.
Last week Kate Middleton appeared in a video announcing that doctors had discovered cancer since her abdominal surgery earlier this year, prompting her to seek chemotherapy.
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” Kate explained in a video posted to social media March 22 according to E News. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was noncancerous. The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”
Middleton is the third member of the royal family to receive a cancer diagnosis in recent months. King Charles III announced late last year that he is also seeking treatment as is Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.
“This of course came as a huge shock,” she continued. “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.”
An avalanche of public attention and media scrutiny continues to revolve around Middleton, who had not been seen publicly since December until Buckingham Palace released a digitally altered photo of her family earlier this month. The controversy has led to some outright speculation by family associates that Middleton was not the person seen with Prince William during a recent tour of a local farm.
