Prince William Accepts A Gift For Kate Middleton In First Public Appearance Since Cancer Diagnosis
Prince William was presented with a gift for Kate Middleton during his first public appearance since the Duchess of Cambridge announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer last month.
Prince William met with the founders and workers of the Surplus to Supper food charity in Surrey, England on Thursday in his first public appearance since his wife’s diagnosis. The charity works to distribute food that would otherwise be discarded to poor communities.
Photos from the event show the royal assisting with cooking, helping to load food trucks, and chatting with workers.

Prince William was presented with a number of “get well” cards for both Middleton and his father, King Charles III, who is also battling cancer, from a volunteer named Rachel Candappa. According to ITV News, the royal responded to receiving the cards by saying: “Thank you very much, that’s kind.”
Catherine, the princess of Wales, announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer in a video statement last month after weeks of speculation surrounding her health and wellbeing. Middleton underwent abdominal surgery in January and while the palace press corps announced that the surgery went well, she had not been spotted in public since appearing at a Christmas celebration in December.
“The surgery was successful, however tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” Middleton shared in the video statement. As a result of the diagnosis, Middleton announced that she would be stepping back from royal duties in order to undergo “preventive chemotherapy.” It is not currently known what type of cancer Middleton is battling.
Her diagnosis came just weeks after King Charles III was diagnosed with an unidentified form of cancer in February.
