NFL Superstar Suffers Gunshot Wound In Florida
Tank Dell, the renowned rookie wide receiver for the Houston Texans, was involved in a shooting incident outside Cabana Live, a popular local venue, late Saturday evening. Despite the chaos, Dell sustained only a minor injury and has already been discharged from the hospital, confirmed by the Texans in a statement on Sunday.
“We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla., last night. He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits,” the Texans announced over the weekend. “We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident.”

Cabana Live also issued a statement regarding the incident, noting that the venue had been booked for a private event at the time of the shooting. “There was an incident outside our establishment last night. We are cooperating with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and praying for all those involved,” the venue shared on social media. They reassured the public that their staff and premises were safe and that business would continue as usual.
While playing against the Denver Broncos last season, Dell sustained a fractured fibula and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery the following day to repair the injury. Despite his season being cut short, Dell finished with impressive statistics: 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns.
The shooter, a 16-year-old, appeared in court on Monday, facing charges including attempted murder following the shooting at Cabana Live according to WESH2. Although the teen was not involved in the altercation, deputies reported that he drew a firearm and fired into a crowd, injuring 10 people, including the Texans wide receiver and Daytona Beach native Tank Dell.
“I did read the probable cause statement prior to coming into court today. I do find there’s probable cause for the charges you were arrested for. You do score 18 points, so you’re going to remain in detention,” Judge Melissa Souto stated during the hearing. Following the shooting, a security guard at the venue subdued the teen, with assistance from two deputies present at the scene. He is slated to return to court for arraignment on May 13.
Deputies initially responded to a call about a large crowd at a bar. Upon arrival, they heard gunfire from behind the establishment and observed people fleeing the scene. “I heard pow pow pow I was so frightened I started looking around everybody just roaming around scattering,” Neisha Foster recounted to WESH. She was at Cabana Live during the incident and described her reaction to the gunfire.
“I was terrified,” she continued. “I was crawling on the ground screaming for my sister. Everybody is trying to ask me what’s going on. Everybody is clueless.” Foster explained that in the chaos, people trampled over her, resulting in a severely swollen leg by Sunday morning. Despite her injuries, she felt fortunate. “I seen quite a few people that was injured. A couple was shot in the leg and arm.”
