REPORT: Biden Fears Hunter Will Serve Prison Time

Published

on

President Joe Biden is bracing himself for a family scandal splashed across headlines as his son Hunter Biden faces felony gun charges – and the real prospect of prison. Within the halls of the White House, there’s an air of tension as aides maintain a strict hands-off policy on the case, which is led by special counsel David Weiss.

Yet, whispers of worry ripple through, hinting at deeper concerns that the trial might shake the President not just politically, but emotionally too. Amidst hushed talks, insiders—speaking under the cloak of anonymity—revealed the familial burden weighing on Joe Biden, with looming fears of a possible prison sentence for his son adding to the president’s already challenging political landscape.

One of the three advisers said to POLITICO, “He worries about Hunter every single day, from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep. That will only pick up during a trial.” According to the insiders, Biden is closely monitoring his son’s legal battles, maintaining daily contact through calls or texts, according to his advisers. They confirm that this supportive routine will persist throughout the trial.

Initiated by the Justice Department, the trial is set to commence on June 3.

Hunter currently finds himself in the crosshairs, facing three felony gun charges over a firearm he acquired back in 2018. Despite pleading not guilty, the controversy swirls around accusations that he fibbed about his drug use on a federal form required to buy the gun. At the heart of the matter is his alleged illegal possession of a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver for 11 days, during which time he claimed he wasn’t using drugs.

Adding to the drama, Biden’s defense team is pulling all stops to get these charges dropped, pointing to a prior diversion agreement they argue still holds water. They’re also hitting back against the constitutionality of the law that bars drug users from having guns, buoyed by a recent Supreme Court decision that champions greater gun rights, insisting that gun laws must align with America’s long-standing historical traditions of firearm regulation.

Whether the legal saga will assist former President Donald Trump’s 2024 bid for the White House remains a debate in GOP circles. A Republican strategist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the outlet that some conservatives believe they’ve maximized the political gains from the Hunter issue. Another individual, also speaking anonymously and affiliated with a pro-Trump group, noted that the upcoming trial, which focuses on Hunter Biden’s alleged illegal firearm purchase during a period of drug addiction, does not align with the aspects of the Biden family narrative that Republicans typically emphasize.

Instead, they are more interested in accusations of corruption and influence peddling—charges that the Justice Department has not brought against the president’s son. Due to the disconnect with the corruption narrative, this person does not foresee a vigorous effort from the right to spotlight the trial.

However, they acknowledged that it wouldn’t be completely ignored. “It will be used as a pivot point to go into the main talking points about the Bidens,” the person said. “But him having a gun and snorting cocaine—that doesn’t go to the Biden Crime Family narrative and story.”

If found guilty, Hunter’s felonies could result in a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
