The View Launches Disgusting Racial Attack On Caitlin Clark
“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin claimed that the immense popularity of Caitlin Clark — who set scoring records for women’s college basketball and is now drawing record eyeballs to the WNBA — is a result of her being white and straight.
“Caitlin Clark is bringing this money, these sponsorships, we hope, into the league and other players will benefit from it. But I do think that she is more relatable to more people because she’s white, because she’s attractive,” Hostin said.
“And unfortunately, there still is that stigma against the LGBTQ+ community. 70 percent of the WNBA is black. A third of the players are in the LGBTQ+ community,” she continued. “And we have to do something about that stigma in this country. I think that people have a problem with basketball playing women that are lesbian.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in to say that she has recently become a fan of the WNBA due to Caitlin Clark, adding that it had nothing to do with her skin color.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg then claimed that she and Hostin have been trying to draw attention to the WNBA for years. “These women are oftentimes equal if not better, sometimes, than the folks you’re watching,” Goldberg said.
“Sometimes better than the guys!” Hostin followed up.
While Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes were unable to secure an NCAA title during her tenure, the rising superstar brought record ratings to the sport. The 2024 women’s championship game between Iowa and the South Carolina Gamecocks drew an incredible 24 million viewers, marking the first time the women’s basketball final had more viewers than the men’s game.
In March, Clark became the all-time leading scorer in the NCAA’s Division 1 — male or female — passing Hall of Famer “Pistol” Pete Maravich.
She has continued to draw record viewing numbers with the WNBA, as Saturday’s contest between Clark’s Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty drew 1.96 million viewers, a new record for ABC and ESPN.
