Beloved TV Judge Frank Caprio Successfully Completes Cancer Treatment

Caprio, who is best known for his compassionate courtroom videos that are shared widely on Facebook, shared the positive news in a Facebook post on Friday.

“ON MY WAY.. After my final radiation treatment Baptist Health Cancer Care Baptist Health, I rang the bell and am on my way to happy days!” Caprio wrote alongside a video of the celebration. “On my last day of radiation treatment at the Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida, I had no idea what they had in store for me,” the judge said.

Caprio, 87, first received treatment in Rhode Island, as well as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, before seeking treatment in Florida.

Upon completing his treatment on Friday, Caprio was greeted in the lobby by hospital staff, as well as friends and family. He then received a standing ovation as he “rang the bill” to signal an end to his cancer treatment.

“It is with extreme excitement that we congratulate you on finishing your treatment here at Miami Cancer Institute,” Doctor Michael Chuong told Caprio, according to the New York Post. “We look forward to seeing you for many, many more follow-ups to come and excited that hope is alive again and happy days are here again.”

The doctor then provided Caprio a judge’s gavel, which the beloved jurist used to slam the victory bell. “My treatment’s done. This course is run, and I am on my way,” Caprio said while ringing the bell.

Caprio had served as the chief judge of the municipal court in Providence, Rhode Island for nearly 40 years until his retirement last year. He gained national fame through his courtroom show “Caught in Providence,” which became popular due to moments of compassion shown by Judge Caprio.
