CNBC Guest Dies Unexpectedly From ‘Brief Illness’

Ben White, a prominent voice in economic journalism and former chief economic correspondent for Politico, passed away on Saturday, his partner Sara announced. Known for his insightful “Morning Money” column, White adeptly bridged the worlds of finance and public policy at POLITICO and often appeared on MSNBC.

“This is Ben’s partner, Sara,” she wrote. “I’m heartbroken to tell you that Ben died on Saturday, June 1 after a brief illness. He loved his family, being a journalist, rooting for the Yankees and the Commanders and so much more. He’ll forever be in my heart and will be missed by so many. 💔”

White’s distinguished career included a stint at the New York Times as a Wall Street reporter, where he earned accolades from the Society of Business Editors and Writers for his exceptional reporting on the financial crisis.

Between 2005 and 2007, White honed his expertise in economic reporting as the Wall Street correspondent and U.S. Banking Editor for the Financial Times. Before his tenure at the FT, White built a robust foundation at the Washington Post, where he served for nine years. His roles there included national political researcher and research assistant to esteemed columnist David S. Broder, followed by a position as a Wall Street correspondent.

A 1994 alumnus of Kenyon College, White was not only a respected journalist but also a devoted father residing in New York with his two sons according to his bio.
