Whoopi Goldberg ‘Devastated’ After Latest Book Completely Flops
“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg is facing a major disappointment as her much-anticipated memoir has failed to captivate audiences, resulting in dismal sales. Known for her outspoken views on the popular daytime talk show, Goldberg had high hopes for her latest literary offering. However, it appears that the public’s interest did not align with her expectations, leaving the celebrated actress and television personality to grapple with the reality of a book that simply didn’t resonate as expected.
“Despite a whirlwind of publicity, the book has shockingly landed at number 800 on the bestseller list after just a few weeks,” a source exclusively told Closer of her book ‘Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me,’ which was released in May.
“Whoopi is devastated by the flop, questioning how such a high-profile release could fall so flat,” said the insider. “She thought she’d be as successful as Prince Harry and Britney Spears and even hoped it would be turned into a movie — but that’s unlikely to happen after such disappointing sales!”
Goldberg has penned several books, including her memoirs. One of the most notable was titled “Book,” released in 1997. In this book, she discussed her life, her views on various issues, and her career in show business, providing readers with a glimpse into her unique perspective and personality. Her new memoir pays tribute to her late mother, Emma, and her brother, Clyde, emphasizing the pivotal roles they played in her journey from Caryn Johnson to the celebrated personality, Whoopi Goldberg
While Goldberg’s memoir’s underperformance might disappoint, her role on “The View” often showcases the more contentious side of her persona. Earlier in the week, the iconic liberal compared Joe Biden to an invalid nursing home patient, saying even if he “pooped his pants” he would still fare better in the world’s most demanding job than his opponent.
“I’m just going to have my two cents because I wasn’t here on the day that y’all talked about it. I don’t care if he’s pooped his pants. I don’t care if he can’t put a sentence together. Show me he can’t do the job, and then I’ll say, okay, maybe it’s time to go,” Goldberg said regarding the recent media spotlight on Biden’s mental acuity.

“Now, he had a bad night the first time that he went out and debated with Kamala Harris, and everybody wanted him to quit that and say, ‘You can’t talk to women like this. Are you doing this wrong? You’re doing that wrong.’ He came back and said, ‘You know what? I got it’ and gave four years. So, yeah, I have poopy days all the time, all that I step in so much poo you can’t even imagine.”
Goldberg has been a major figure in the entertainment industry since the early 1980s. She achieved international fame with her role in the 1985 film “The Color Purple,” for which she received a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination. She later won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1990 film “Ghost.”
