JUST IN: Chilling New Video Shows Shooter ‘Lurking’ Near Rally Stage Before Event

Four days following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, investigators are still piecing together the shooter’s motives. Trump, still recovering, was seen with a bandage over his ear while attending the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

New footage provided to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has shed light on the activities of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks before the incident. Captured by an individual who chose to remain anonymous, the video recorded on Saturday shows Crooks in the vicinity of the event an hour before the shooting began. The man, who initially aimed to document the crowd size, inadvertently recorded what would soon become a critical piece of the investigation.

The footage reveals Crooks lingering near a building just outside the secured perimeter of the event. As the camera pans across the scene, several law enforcement vehicles can be seen facing the building. When the video shifts back towards the building, Crooks is visible once more, suggesting he had been in the area for over an hour before the gunfire erupted.

“When I saw the video last night, when I was going back through my my video clips and saw him, I was chilled to the point where I couldn’t fall asleep right away,” said the individual who recorded the video. “I didn’t sleep well. There’s – there’s something. Something really went wrong with this.”

Fox News reported on Wednesday that both parents are cooperating with the FBI as they spearhead the search for a motive behind Crooks’ deadly shooting, but what they exactly told authorities in advance remains uncertain. The parents of the 20-year-old reportedly pleaded with local authorities to find their son shortly before he positioned himself on the roof and attempted to shoot and kill former President.

The disturbed recent high school graduate was able to fire off eight rounds from a high-caliber rifle he stole from his father before being shot and killed. The Bureau is also investigating why a local police officer backed away from Crooks seconds before the shooting started while Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has defended the agency’s decision not to place an agent on the roof where Crooks was able to obtain a direct line of sight to the stage where Trump was standing.

The picture of Crooks’ motive became murkier after neighbors told Fox News that Crooks’ household never placed a Trump yard sign out front, refuting earlier claims that Crooks lived in a pro-Trump household. Neighbor Amy, who declined to give her last name, spoke with the press alongside Holly, a local GOP captain, saying “I give out the signs, and I’ve never given to that house, I’ll tell you that.”

Despite being a registered Republican, Crooks most recently made a small donation to a progressive political action committee supporting President Joe Biden’s reelection. “I walk by here all the time, other neighbors do,” Amy added. “You will not find one neighbor that will confirm or ever say they saw those signs in the yard.”

Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old firefighter, was shot and killed while trying to protect his family during the attempted assassination. Additionally, two other individuals were seriously injured in the attack.
