WATCH: Kamala Harris’ Campaign Manager Hurries Away When Asked About Press Conference
Harris-Walz Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodríguez hurried away from a reporter when asked whether Vice President Harris has any interviews or press conferences planned in the coming days.
In the 34 days since President Biden made the unprecedented decision to suspend his re-election campaign, Vice President Harris has yet to sit for a formal interview, nor has she allowed reporters access in a press conference. She has seldom taken questions from the press and has refused to release detailed policy goals.
During the recent Democratic National Convention, Harris Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez was asked about the lack of media availability. “Will Kamala talk to the press? Will she do a press conference?” the reporter asked.
Rodriguez immediately hurried towards an exit while refusing to answer questions. “Will Kamala do a press conference?” she followed up.
The interaction comes just a day after Harris avoided a similar encounter with Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked whether the vice president has any intentions of agreeing to a debate with Fox News. While Trump agreed to and showed up for a debate hosted by left-leaning CNN, Harris has refused to debate Trump on Fox News for weeks.
To date, the two candidates have agreed to two debates, the first of which will be hosted by ABC News.
“Are you ready for your Fox News interview?” Doocy asked as Harris was quickly rushing towards an exit. Harris laughed and shrugged her shoulders before moving on. “I’m working towards it,” she joked before hurrying off.
