WATCH: Kamala’s Husband Doug Emhoff Mortified After His ‘USA’ Chant Goes Terribly Wrong
In a cringe-worthy moment, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff found himself at the center of an awkward fiasco in metro Grand Rapids on Thursday. Emhoff was in town to campaign for his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. But instead of rallying the crowd, he ended up rallying for a little mercy.
Standing in front of a modest gathering, Emhoff began by reading from his notes about his wife—a move that raised more than a few eyebrows. Being married to her and still needing notes to say nice things about her was puzzling enough.
“Who is that person? She’s joyful, which is a good thing. She’s also tough, which is a good thing,” he said while looking down at his notes. “And it’s her empathy, it’s her superpower. Her ability to understand what other people are going through, that is really her strength..”
WATCH:
But the real kicker came when Emhoff tried to spark a patriotic “USA” chant. It started innocently enough. “USA! USA!” he shouted, his voice a little too eager. The response was a smattering of half-hearted cheers that quickly fizzled out.
Harris and Emhoff, who tied the knot in 2014—her first marriage, his second—celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on August 22. The milestone came on the same night Harris accepted her party’s nomination for president.
REACTIONS:
Homie, you are married to her, and you need notes to say nice things about her?

Doug Emhoff reading off notes to talk about Kamala's qualities? How touching. I wonder if they have a teleprompter in the bedroom?
