WATCH: Kamala Harris Is Now Using Headphones to Avoid Taking Questions From Reporters

Vice President Kamala Harris appears to be employing a new strategy in order to avoid taking questions from reporters in-between campaign events.

Since Harris became the de-facto Democratic Party presidential nominee in July, she has been under fire from former President Donald Trump and other critics due to her refusal to talk to the press.

In the more than 40 days since President Biden suspended his re-election campaign, Harris has sat for just one interview. The lone interview has raised eyebrows, as Harris was joined by her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and spoke to a left-leaning network in CNN for just 18 minutes.

Since mid-July, Harris has yet to sit for a solo interview and has yet to hold a formal press conference. She has also largely avoided taking impromptu questions from the press during and ahead of campaign events.

To that end, the vice president appears to be employing a new strategy to avoid the press altogether.

While departing Joint Base Andrews for a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan, Harris could be seen wearing headphones. The vice president gave reporters a brief, seemingly dismissive wave as they shouted questions before she quickly hurried up the stairs to an awaiting plane.

The clip soon went viral on social media, with many users expressing outrage over the vice president’s total lack of media ability.

“Kamala Harris has now started wearing *headphones* when getting out of the motorcade to avoid reporters. Totally UNFIT to be President,” said independent journalist Nick Sorter.

The official Trump campaign X account, Trump War Room, also joined in on the backlash. “If you’re going to pretend that you’re on your phone in order to avoid answering questions from the press, you should probably do a little bit better of an acting job than holding your phone up to your ear while wearing wired headphones,” the campaign wrote.

In addition to her lack of media availability, Harris has yet to release a formal policy platform. She has introduced a few policies relating to a handful of issues — including price controls on grocers and $25,000 tax credits for “first time homebuyers” — though she has yet to finalize anything.

The campaign has also flip-flopped on a number of Biden-Harris Administration policies, including the need for a border wall and an end to her own administration’s electric vehicle mandates.

Harris is set to debate former President Donald Trump on September 10, though she has continuously hinted at a potential pull out.
