Melania Breaks Silence On Assassination Attempt, Calls For ‘Truth’ In Cryptic Video: ‘More To This Story’

Former First Lady Melania Trump is opening up about the heartbreak she felt watching her husband nearly be killed in an assassination attempt earlier this summer.

In a cryptic video, the wife of former President Donald Trump suggested that supporters deserve to hear “more to this story” than has previously been released. Exhaustive investigations by Congress, the FBI, and other authorities continue to search for a motive behind the gunman’s actions and how the Secret Service failed to prevent the July 13th shooting. “The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience. Now, the silence around it feels heavy,” she told X followers in a direct-to-camera video released on Tuesday.

Going on, she asked, “I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech? There is definitely more to the story, and we need to uncover the truth.” The video ends with a promotion for her new memoir, “Melania,” which is already smashing records before it hits bookstore shelves on October 1st. The tell-all tale includes the story of first meeting her husband, former President Donald Trump, but readers appear to be most interested in learning about the intimate moments of the Slovenia native’s life. “Melania” is currently sitting at the No. 1 position on Amazon’s books category for “Political Leader Biographies” and is No. 2 overall in the larger “Biographies” category. Among all books, “Melania” is positioned at No. 5, an impressive feat for a book that has not yet been released.

Assessments of the shooting and gunman Thomas Crooks have yet to pin down a motive for the attempt on Trump’s life, though investigators have uncovered that the mentally ill 20-year-old was generally pessimistic about American politics. He was a registered Republican but donated recently to a progressive organization. His father, an independent, and mother, a registered Democrat, have cooperated with authorities but shed no further light publicly about what caused their son to fire a rifle at Trump.

Congressional investigators, led by U.S. House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY), have questioned Secret Service Acting Director Robert Rowe about why the Trump campaign was stymied for years after asking for buffed-up Secret Service details following death threats. Rowe, who has been implicated in approving the denials, has instead pointed to technology and protocol failures within Trump’s 60-member team as reasons for why counter-snipers were unable to neutralize Crooks before he opened fire. Subsequent revelations revealed that the gunman was able to scout the scene of the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania hours before it began without interruption and even fly a drone to gain a better vantage point. Rowe said the Secret Service was unable to deploy its own drone that day.
