Tim Walz Humiliated After Major Mid-Speech Slip-Up

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz should have remembered his childhood idiom before taking the stage Monday night: if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee accidentally took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris while speaking in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Or at least that’s how it appeared to rally goers who watched the midwestern governor declare that Americans “can’t afford four more years” of President Joe Biden and, by extension, Harris. A candidate clip of Walz suggesting Harris would be a disaster for America was highlighted by the campaign account of former President Donald Trump.

“We can’t afford… we can’t afford four more years of this!” he declared to a crowd of nonplussed onlookers. The Western Journal contextualized the segment in Gov. Walz’s speech, which he ostensibly meant in regard to increasing political violence and mass shootings. Somehow, despite being nearly assassinated twice, President Trump and running mate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) are to blame, Walz said. “Look, Kamala Harris made it clear these guys want to instill fear. They want to tell you that [you should] just get over it, it’s a fact of life. This is the way it is.”

Walz’s knock on Vance comes a few weeks after the Ohio Republican stated in an interview that he would support “hardening” public schools with resources such as armed security guards or firearms training for teachers, both efforts meant to deter shooters. A fraction of his answer where he declared school shootings a “way of life” was pounced on by critics and the mainstream media, though the Associated Press retracted its initial headline after an online outcry of liberal bias.

Several conservative commentators ridiculed Gov. Walz for getting egg on his face while attempting to knock his rival. “In a stunning move, Tim Walz makes the case for Trump,” Benny Johnson wrote. “We agree Timmy!” added @DogRightGirl. Crowd favorite Defiant L’s mocked Walz’s lack of touch with reality. “I’m not sure if you know this Tim but your current running mate is kinda the VP,” they posted.

Toward the end of his milquetoast monologue, Gov. Walz tries to fire up the crowd by declaring that Vice President Harris would be the first female president, shattering the ultimate “glass ceiling” that Hillary Clinton promised to break eight years ago. “It’s all on the line. Not just for the next four years but for the next 40 years. Forty-five days to bring joy back to our politics. Forty-five days to say we are not satisfied with putting cracks in the glass ceiling — we’re pushing President Harris through the glass ceiling,” he shouted to an adoring crowd.
