Michael Cohen Ripped After Suggesting He’ll Leave His Family In Melodramatic Interview
Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to Donald Trump, made a dramatic announcement on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House program, revealing that he plans to flee the country and change his name if Trump is re-elected in 2024. Cohen, who turned against the former president after their falling out, has become one of Trump’s most vocal critics, using his interview with host Nicolle Wallace to take sharp jabs at his former boss.
“I’m already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name,” Cohen said, emphasizing the extreme lengths he is willing to go to avoid living under another Trump administration. “I don’t know how it’s going to work as far as dealing with my wife and my children. I certainly don’t want them moving to where I’m looking to go.”
Cohen, who has previously testified against Trump, expressed his grave concerns about Trump’s potential return to the White House. He claimed that the former president could seek retribution against his critics, including himself, and military officials like General Milley, following recent Supreme Court decisions that expanded presidential immunity.
“These are people that [Trump] intends to go after if he has the ability to,” Cohen continued. “The worst is the Supreme Court’s recent decision that gave him community presidential immunity—now he thinks not only is it ‘I can do whatever I want,’ but that I can’t even be prosecuted.”

Despite once being Trump’s most trusted fixer, Cohen has since distanced himself, becoming a vocal critic and cooperating with federal investigations into Trump’s business dealings and personal conduct. His public denunciation of Trump has painted him as a prominent adversary of the former president, a position Cohen has suggested could put him in personal danger should Trump regain the presidency.
As Trump continues to dominate polling for the 2024 presidential race, many in the media and political spheres are speculating about the potential consequences for those who have stood against him. For Cohen, the solution appears to be clear: exit America entirely.
A former personal attorney to Trump, Cohen became embroiled in several scandals involving the GOP leader. In January 2016, Cohen was implicated in the Steele dossier, which alleged he had met with Russian officials in Prague in 2016 to coordinate payments to those who hacked the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Cohen denied the claims, stating he had not traveled to Prague or the European Union at that time. Investigations found no direct evidence linking him to the alleged meeting.
The controversy surrounding Michael Cohen’s payment of hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign became a focal point of media attention. Cohen, acting on his own initiative, created a shell company to transfer $130,000 to Daniels in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair with Trump. Trump initially denied knowledge of the payment, and while Cohen later claimed that Trump directed it to avoid any potential distractions during the campaign, this was part of Cohen’s testimony during Trump’s criminal trial in May 2024. Trump’s legal team has maintained that the payment was a private transaction, unrelated to campaign funds, and not a violation of election laws. Cohen pleaded guilty to several charges, including campaign finance violations, and was sentenced to three years in prison in December 2018.
