Tim Walz Humiliated After Comedian’s Skit Hilariously Spoofs His Bizarre Mannerisms

Comedian Jim Gaffigan mercilessly skewered Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the opening episode of the 50th season of “Saturday Night Live,” poking fun at the midwesterner’s idiosyncratic mannerisms including excessive arm-waving, dad jokes, and cringy pop culture references.

“Look who fell out of that coconut tree,” said Maya Rudolph, the preeminent Kamala Harris impersonator. “I haven’t been this excited since I got a ten percent rebate on a leaf blower from Menard’s,” Gaffigan/Walz joked. “What can I say? I’ve got that BDE – Big Dad Energy.” An uncomfortable Rudolph gently pats him on the arm. “I got it,” she says about his crude joke. “I didn’t want it but I got it.”

Leaning into Walz’s assertion that former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) are both “weird,” Gaffigan employed the governor’s habit of issuing homespun maxims to critique his rivals. “We have a saying in Minnesota: mind your damn business!” he told the SNL crowd after declaring that the Republican “want the government to control” bedroom and reading behaviors. “We also have another saying in Minnesota: my nuts froze to the park bench!” he laughed.

“I gotta be honest folks: when Kamala Harris called and asked me to be her vice president, I said, uh, yeah!” Gaffigan/Walz exclaimed. “This is personal for me. I love this country. And as a former teacher I need the money! This suit is from Costco. It’s a Kirkland brand. They make great dog food.”

Since jumping into the race last month, Gov. Walz has taken flak for his low net worth compared to other well-heeled national politicians, an attack that he has leaned into more than once. He’s suggested his modest savings are more in line with those of average Americans who can’t rely on inheritance or insider information on stock markets. He’s refrained from criticizing ultra-wealthy and well-connected supporters like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a scion of Democratic politics and prolific stock trader.

Walz drew mockery last week for filming a video while working underneath the hood of his car in a blatant appeal to middle-class voters. Some observers were quick to note that he removed an old air filter only to reinsert it.

Over the weekend he appeared at the Minnesota-Michigan college football game only to be booed out of the stadium. As Walz was making his way into “The Big House” in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a large group of Michigan fans and students erupted into loud boos and jeers. One fan could be heard yelling, “Get out of here” while another referred to the Minnesota governor as a communist.
