Oscar-Winning Script Writer Aaron Sorkin Is Working On A New Movie About January 6
Oscar-winning script writer Aaron Sorkin is working on a movie about the January 6 Capitol protests.
Sorkin — who is best known for his work on the political drama series “The West Wing” and the Facebook origin tale “The Social Network” — intends for the January 6 film to be another entry in documenting Facebook. This film will focus on the company’s supposed role in allowing the protest and minor riot to happen, as Sorkin has stated that he blames Facebook for the day’s events.
“I’ll be writing about this. I blame Facebook for January 6,” Sorkin said during a live recording of “The Town” podcast earlier this week.
The script writer accused Mark Zuckerberg of prioritizing platform growth at the expense of integrity. “Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible because that is what will increase engagement,” he said.
“There is supposed to be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity. There isn’t. It’s just growth,” Sorkin went on to say. “So, if Mark Zuckerberg woke up tomorrow morning and realized that there is nothing you can buy for $120 billion that you can’t buy for $119 billion, so ‘how about if I make a little less money? I will tune up integrity and tune down growth.’”
The “West Wing” writer went on to highlight Facebook’s “infinite scroll” algorithm, calling it “inside the hallways of Facebook.”
When asked to explain how exactly Facebook was responsible for January 6, Sorkin replied by saying “you’re going to need to buy a movie ticket.”
The premise of the movie is bizarre to many considering the fact that the minor disturbance at the Capitol Building was preceded by months of violent rioting that was endorsed by powerful left-wing political figures, including both President Biden and Vice President Harris.
Mark Zuckerberg is also a major donor to Democrat causes and played a crucial role in financing the party’s ballot harvesting operations in 2020.
