Alec Baldwin Loses It After Special Prosecutor Announces Criminal Charges
On Thursday, Alec Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter after he shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”
NBC reported, “The film’s armorer who was in charge of weapons on the set, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, was also charged with involuntary manslaughter, according to New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies.”
“If any one of these three people – Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or David Halls – had done their job, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. It’s that simple,” said special prosecutor appointed to the case Andrea Reeb in a statement. “The evidence clearly shows a pattern of criminal disregard for safety on the ‘Rust’ film set. In New Mexico, there is no room for film sets that don’t take our state’s commitment to gun safety and public safety seriously.”
Baldwin can spend up to 5 years in jail if convicted.
In response to the charges, Baldwin and his lawyer lost it, saying they would fight the charges to the end as they pushed the blame onto others.
“This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice. Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun – or anywhere on the movie set,” they said in a statement after the charges were revealed. “He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. We will fight these charges, and we will win.”
It is hard to feel bad for Baldwin considering he does not feel bad about his actions.
“Do you feel guilt?” ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos asked Baldwin during an exclusive interview.
“No. Someone is responsible for what happened and I can’t say who that is, but I know it’s not me.” Baldwin said.
