American Flags Symbolize ‘Genocide,’ Far-Left Actor Claims
“Stand By Me” actor John Cusack, who recently argued that Iran should be able to obtain a nuclear weapon to “combat” the United States, is now claiming that American and Israeli flags now symbolize “genocide” as a result of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Cusack made the claim in a recent post on BlueSky, the fledgling X alternative that is almost exclusively populated by far-left extremists.
“I believe in justice, human rights and dignity for all people, and I oppose hatred and bigotry toward any group based on their race, religion, identity or ethnicity. States & state flags represent many things to many people — to many now Israeli and American flags are the flags of genocide,” he wrote.
While Cusack has long been a politically active subscriber to left-wing viewpoints, he has drawn widespread condemnation from both sides of the political aisle over recent comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict. In response to President Donald Trump’s decision to bomb Iranian nuclear sites last month, the actor argued that the theocratic nation should be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb in order to defend itself against the United States and Israel.
Iran will surely rush to get a nuclear weapon—and they should get one,” Cusack wrote in a social-media post on June 27. “It’s the only way to deter the U.S. and Israel from bombing every country in the Middle East.”
Despite Cusack’s insistence on a nuclear Iran, the regime suggested Friday that it is willing to re-enter nuclear talks with the United States. President Donald Trump recently helped to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which came with limited sanctions relief for Tehran as an effort to get talks back on track.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a speech to Tehran-based foreign diplomats that Iran is willing to re-open negotiations, provided they receive guarantees that the U.S. will not authorize further strikes. Tehran states that “assurance should be provided that in case of a resumption of talks, the trend will not lead to war.”
Steve Witkoff, the president’s special envoy to the Middle East, has remained in contact with the Iranian regime and has expressed confidence that a long-lasting denuclearization agreement will be reached in the near future.
