Andrew Cuomo Stuns Democrats, Says Trump NY Cases Were Frivolous And Politically Motivated
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told Bill Maher that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump, as well as New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud case, should never have been brought. The former governor further argued that the cases were brought for political reasons and would never have been considered against anyone other than Trump.
“That case, the attorney general’s case in New York, should have never been brought. And if his name was not Donald Trump and he wasn’t running for president — I’m the former A.G. of New York, I’m telling you, that case would have never been brought,” Cuomo said after Maher brought up the Bragg case.
“And that’s what is offensive to people, and it should be, because if there’s anything left, it’s belief in the justice system.”
Cuomo also argued that the lack of polling impact is due to the political nature of the proceedings. While Biden surrogates hoped their political rival’s conviction in the dubious case would give the president a boost, this has yet to materialize, as Trump has actually gained in a number of post-verdict polls.
Maher appeared to agree by pointing to former President Trump’s massive fundraising boost in the days and weeks following the trial. In the 72 hours following the verdict, the Trump Campaign and the RNC out-raised President Biden’s entire monthly total.
