AOC Lashes Out Against Parody AOC Account on Twitter, Worried People Think It’s Really Her

On Tuesday, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was desperately trying to distance herself from a parody account that has been causing laughter on Twitter. The “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody)” account, known for its satirical tweets, has become a viral sensation, much to the dismay of the self-proclaimed “squad” leader.

AOC, who is known for her progressive policies and occasional social media outbursts, took to Twitter with a exasperated post to denounce the parody account.

“FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility,” AOC said. “It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.”

The congresswoman failed to see the irony in her overreaction. While some might consider the parody account harmless fun, AOC seemed genuinely concerned about the impact it might have on her carefully curated image.

The parody account responded by Tweeting: “Great News: I personally called Twitter headquarters and told them I was going to hold my breath until my face turned blue – and they instantly removed the blue check from that racist, white supremacist parody AOC account.”
