Austin Metcalf’s Family Hit With Sick Death Threats As Karmelo Supporters Go Ballistic
Supporters of Karmelo Anthony are facing accusations of turning to intimidation and violence following his murder conviction, while relatives of slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf say they continue to receive disturbing threats.
Both teens were 17 when Karmelo Anthony fatally stabbed Metcalf during a confrontation at a high school track meet in April 2025.
A jury convicted Anthony of murder Tuesday and sentenced him to 35 years in prison. He has since filed a notice of appeal seeking to challenge the verdict.
As tensions surrounding the case continue to boil over, reports have surfaced of alleged threats and assaults by some of Anthony’s supporters.
In one video circulating on X, apparently posted by a user in Jacksonville, Florida, a bicyclist appears to confront and assault a man while recording the encounter. The alleged attacker can be heard asking whether the victim was involved in jury selection for the Karmelo trial.
A woman’s voice in the footage says the man who was allegedly struck is a military veteran.

In a statement regarding the incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said, “We are aware of this video circulating on social media and are actively looking into the video’s origin and parties involved.”
Even as authorities investigate, another online fundraiser tied to Anthony briefly appeared before being shut down.
A GoFundMe campaign that collected hundreds of dollars was removed Thursday by the company.
In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, GoFundMe said:
“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit fundraisers that raise money for the legal defense of anyone formally charged with a violent crime. Consistent with this long-standing policy, any fundraising campaigns for the legal defense of someone charged with murder are removed from the platform and fully refunded. As such, the fundraiser has been removed from the platform and the $726 raised has been refunded.”
Jurors in the case have not spoken publicly about the verdict.
Meanwhile, the Metcalf family says the threats have not stopped.
According to TMZ, one family member received a text message stating, “He [Austin] f—ed around and found out,” suggesting the victim was somehow responsible for the deadly stabbing.
Another message reportedly read, “Should’ve stabbed hunter too.” Hunter is Austin’s twin brother.
TMZ reported that individuals have also threatened to appear at the Metcalf family’s homes and have mocked the family by claiming they are desecrating Austin’s grave.
It remains unclear who sent the messages or which member of the family received them.

Jeff Metcalf told CBS after the trial that he continues to receive death threats and said his personal information had previously been exposed online.
Last August, police responded to a series of 911 calls that resulted in a SWAT team arriving at the Metcalf family’s home in Frisco, Texas, with weapons drawn, according to the outlet.
The murder case involving Karmelo Anthony has drawn national attention and sparked fierce reactions online, with authorities now investigating allegations of harassment and threats connected to the aftermath of the verdict.
