Barron Trump Celebrates Major Milestone

Former first son Barron Trump is all grown up.

The youngest son to former President Donald Trump turned 18 over the weekend, holding a private party away from the limelight, according to PEOPLE Magazine. Insiders close to the family say the celebration came while young Barron is eagerly awaiting college application decisions to arrive in the mail.

Just 10 years old when Trump first entered the White House, Barron Trump and former first lady Melania Trump initially stayed behind in Manhattan out of concern for disruptions to Barron’s childhood routine.

“He has a very good school in New York where he has a lot of friends,” Donald told PEOPLE during his first presidential campaign. “But I tell him if this happens, Daddy will help people, and can help children like him, and that makes him happy. He’s a young boy who is 9 years old and he is strong and smart and he gets it. He sees it.”

It wasn’t long before the family changed course and enrolled Barron the following year at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland, close enough to Washington, D.C. that the family could live together in the White House.

In 2021, President Trump announced his plans to leave New York for Florida, leading Barron to transfer to Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. He will graduate with the class of 2024 in May.

With his father permanently in the spotlight as either a businessman, president, or candidate, Barron has maintained a strong relationship with his mother Melania, who has insisted that President Trump sit with the family each morning for breakfast as a way to stay grounded during a frenetic election year. Barron is also extremely close with grandfather Victor Knavs, who lives at Mar-a-Lago and whose wife, Melania’s mother Amalija Knavs, passed away earlier this year.

Don’t expect Barron to spend his formative adult years at the White House. A source close to the family added that he is eager to begin his time on a college campus, with his mother being heavily involved in the application and visiting processes.

“Melania’s main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it’s possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school,” the social source told PEOPLE. “Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years.”

The source added: “Melania is all about Barron and her family. She has always been family-oriented, and in addition to some of the charity work she has done, staying ahead of family issues is her priority. She has a good life.”
