Renowned actress Nicole Eggert, 52, has recently taken to social media to share a moment in her battle with cancer. In a display of bravery, Eggert posted a video on Thursday that captured her embarking on the journey of shaving her head.

The Instagram video opened with Eggert greeting her audience with a warm smile, set against the defiant tunes of the Beastie Boys’ anthem “Fight For Your Right.” With a buzzer in hand, she began shaving her head.

Eggert’s 12-year-old daughter, Keegan, made a supportive appearance as well. She stepped in to assist her mother with shaving the hard-to-reach areas at the back of her head.

“Maybe healing involves not so much changing ourselves but allowing ourselves to be who we are – Madeleine Eames” her Instagram caption read.

Eggert gained fame in the 1980s and 1990s and is best known for her role as Summer Quinn on the hit TV show “Baywatch.” She began her acting career as a child, appearing in commercials, TV shows, and movies. In addition to “Baywatch,” she has had roles in a variety of television series and films, including “Charles in Charge,” where she played Jamie Powell.

In January, Eggert revealed to PEOPLE her diagnosis of stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer, received in December 2023. “This journey’s been rough for me. This hasn’t been a breezy sail through life,” she shared then. “I always read inspirational quotes and corny stuff, but it gets me through.”

Alongside her son Keegan, Eggert is the mother to 25-year-old daughter Dilyn. She has opened up before about the financial hardships she faces as a single mom, which led to the creation of a GoFundMe page to assist with her medical expenses.

“I absolutely 100% want to start a non-profit for other single parents such as myself, who don’t have any family, don’t have anybody to turn to,” she said in January. “They take on all this by themselves because they love their kids so much, but when something happens to them, then what?”

“I’ve gotten such an outpouring of love and it makes you feel so good. It changes your whole day and other people just don’t have that. So I really want to figure out a way to give back to other parents that are in my situation that aren’t as fortunate.”
