Beloved ‘Once Upon A Time’ Actor Chris Gauthier Dies Suddenly At 48
Chris Gauthier, the Canadian actor born in England and known for his roles on TV shows such as “Once Upon a Time” and “Eureka,” passed away on February 23 at the age of 48.
His death was attributed to a brief, unspecified illness, according to Deadline.
TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent released a statement confirming, “We can confirm that our dear friend and client, Chris Gauthier, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48.” They continued, “His loss is felt not just by his fans but by those of us who were lucky enough to know him more personally.”
The statement concluded with a request for respect to the family’s privacy, “On behalf of his family, we do ask for privacy during this time so that they are able to grieve properly.”
Gauthier was featured in a recurring capacity on the SyFy Channel’s “Eureka,” portraying Vincent, the owner of Café Diem. Concurrently with the production of Eureka’s third season’s final ten episodes, he was involved in the 2009 CBS Mystery Event “Harper’s Island,” playing the character Malcolm Ross, and appeared in “Freddy vs. Jason” as Shack.
His most notable role came from “Smallville,” where he played Winslow Schott, also known as Toyman. In this role, he engaged in confrontations with both Clark and Oliver and was instrumental in establishing Marionette Ventures, also referred to as The Legion of Doom.
