Biden Family Member Embroiled In New Scandal: ‘Failed To Disclose $500K In Donations’

A charity under the management of a Biden family member has been hit with a complaint alleging the organization has been dodging its tax obligations for years.

Ashley Biden, the former president’s daughter, failed to ensure that $500,000 in donations were disclosed to the Internal Revenue Service in a timely fashion, according to a letter released by a conservative watchdog group on Monday.

While former President Joe Biden was still in office, Ashley Biden launched a walk-in trauma recovery center in Philadelphia in 2023, designed to help women overcome mental health challenges. The Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) received $500,000 in seed funding from a number of prominent philanthropists, including the organization founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Each group reported making a gift of $250,000 to Ashley Biden’s venture that year, according to 990 forms both nonprofits submitted to the IRS.

Filings by the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce) are less generous, instead indicating that the organization only took in a combined $170,296 while not receiving a contribution from a single source greater than $5,000. Ashley Biden signed the documents as president under pains and penalties of perjury.

Paul Kamenar, an attorney with the National Legal and Policy Center, which filed the complaint, said his group is demanding to know whether any other unreported income to Ashley Biden’s group exists and wants the IRS to explore the possibility of sanctions.

“Ashley Biden’s failure to disclose to the IRS receiving $500,000 in grants in 2023 raises the question of what other contributions is she hiding,” Kamenar told the Washington Free Beacon.

Tax dodging runs in the Biden family. Hunter Biden, Ashley’s brother, was infamously set to stand trial on tax fraud charges in 2024 before President Biden issued him a full and unconditional pardon for a period covering the past 11 years, a time when he allegedly concealed millions of dollars of income from the government while representing overseas corporations.

Other members of the family benefited from the largesse, as well. James Biden, the president’s brother, pocketed revenue from the business ventures, as did his wife, Sarah. All were pardoned except Ashley.

Greg Mangasarian, an accountant with the Women’s Wellness Spa(ce), explained that the bulk of the $500,000 in donations was not distributed until 2024 and that it would be appropriately reflected on the organization’s latest tax filings.

“The Women’s Wellness Space received $150,000 in 2023 and will report the balance in 2024,” Mangasarian said.

Despite the explanation, Mangasarian also said that his office uses the accrual method of accounting, which requires that donations are catalogued and reported as they come in, not only during tax season. Kamenar’s watchdog group claims Ashley Biden may eventually be forced to pony up a penalty if the IRS finds that her charity improperly reported revenue on its 2023 tax forms.
