Biden Admin Kept Secret Dossier On Trump Official, Rubio Reveals
Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed during a cabinet meeting that the Biden Administration’s state department kept secret dossiers on American citizens accused of being “vectors of disinformation.” One of the individuals targeted by the previous administration is currently serving in the Trump Administration.
“We had an office in the Department of State whose job it was to censor Americans,” Rubio said during a cabinet meeting with President Trump on Wednesday.
“And, by the way, I’m not going to say who it is. I’ll leave it up to them. There’s at least one person at this table today who had a dossier in that building of social media posts to identify them as purveyors of disinformation. We have these dossiers. We are going to be turning those over to these individuals.”
Vice President J.D. Vance interjected with a question, “Was it me or Elon [Musk]?” Vance joked, drawing laughs from cabinet members. “We can follow up when the media is gone.”
“But just think about that. The Department of State of the United States had set up an office to monitor the social media posts and commentary of American citizens, to identify them as vectors of disinformation,” Rubio continued. “When we know that the best way to combat disinformation is freedom of speech and transparency.”
The secretary added, “We’re not going to have an office that does that.”
Former President Biden ignited controversy during his first term after X owner Elon Musk released the “Twitter Files,” which detailed collaboration between the administration and tech companies in order to censor what they deemed to be “misinformation.” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that Facebook and Instagram were asked to censor topics as well, including information on the 2020 election, COVID-19 and the January 6 Capitol protests.
During Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, Rubio appeared to be speaking in reference to the Global Engagement Center, which was officially shut down earlier this month.
Rubio confirmed that the now defunct center was used as a go-between for the Biden Administration to censor its political opponents. In one example, investigative journalist Matt Taibbi revealed that it was used to create a “blacklist” of American citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
