Bill Maher Torches Biden’s Immigration Reversal: ‘Hail Mary’ That Won’t Succeed
“Real Time” host Bill Maher ripped President Biden over his massive pivot on illegal immigration, calling the decision to take executive action an election “Hail Mary” that will not work out.
“If Biden loses this election, it’s going to be because of two things: He’s old… and immigration,” Maher told his panel guests on Friday. “I mean, just on a political level, I don’t think they could have handled it worse.”
“He’s finally, after saying he couldn’t do anything, he’s gonna issue an executive order– by the way, this is the same executive order Trump tried to get through the courts and they didn’t let him do it,” Maher said. “But he’s gonna finally try it six months before the election, which says we will put a cap of 2500 now, asylum seekers coming in. If it passes 2,500, if it’s 2,501, then we automatically close the border. Fire marshall says ‘No more!’ He’s gonna come here and close the club! And if you don’t have a stamp on your hand, you can’t get back in!”

The HBO host continued to poke holes in Biden’s plan, comparing the fluctuating border policies based on the number of illegal aliens to Uber surge pricing. “It’s a bizarre scheme that of course has pleased nobody. It looks like a last minute- it looks like he did nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Then of course, he did try through Congress and the Republicans purposely spiked that football. They didn’t want this bill because they wanted it as an issue. So they could have fixed it themselves. They didn’t. But now it looks like this is his last minute before-the-election Hail Mary pass, and it’s not gonna succeed.”
Republicans had for months urged President Biden to take executive action in order to stem the record-breaking flow of illegal aliens streaming into the United States since President Biden took office. Immediately after Biden was sworn in, he rescinded a number of Trump-era executive orders aimed at border security, including the popular “remain in Mexico” policy, which required asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while their asylum claims are processed. Under Biden, asylum seekers are allowed to not only enter the country, but freely move about the United States while their claims are processed, something that could take months.
After trying to blame the border crisis on Republicans and for months claiming he did not have authority to take executive action, Biden is now reversing course and cracking down on the number of asylum seekers allowed in the United States. Still, Biden’s order will allow upwards of 3,000 illegal aliens to enter the country every day.
More than 10,000,000 illegal aliens have crossed the southern border since Joe Biden took office in January 2021.
