Boebert Gets Great News With Committee Assignment After Opposing McCarthy for Speaker

During the battle over whether Kevin McCarthy would be Speaker of the House, Rep. Lauren Boebert was one of the MAGA Republicans standing like a stone wall alongside Rep. Matt Gaetz in insisting that Rep. McCarthy would only become the Speaker of the House if he negotiated in good faith and made important concessions.

Now she’s learning her post-confirmation battle fate and, it turns out, things couldn’t be going better for Boebert: despite having fought against now-Speaker of the House McCarthy during the confirmation fight, she’s been placed on the highly important and influential House Oversight Committee.

On that committee, she’ll be able to work alongside Rep. James Comer, the chair of it, in taking the fight to the Biden Administration by peeking behind the curtain of the Biden Family, the DOJ, the U Penn/Biden documents scandal, and other scandals that have engulfed the current administration. Newsweek reported Tuesday night on Rep. Boebert’s appointment to the committee, saying:

Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert has earned a seat on one of the most coveted committees in the new Republican-led Congress despite her lack of support for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during his rocky rise to the top post in the U.S. House.

On Tuesday, Boebert announced she had been appointed to the influential House Oversight Committee by members of the McCarthy-led House Steering Committee.

The appointment gives the outspoken Colorado Republican outsized influence on looming investigations into three-letter agencies like the CIA and FBI that McCarthy—whom Boebert vocally opposed for the speaker post—had hinted at in the lead-up to Republicans taking the majority this past November.

Rep. Boebert announced her new committee assignment in a tweet, sayingI’m honored to be joining the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Chairman @RepJamesComer, let’s get to work!

Much as Boebert wants, Rep. Comer does seem posed to get to work on taking the fight to the Biden Administration and those helping it by pushing past opposition and beginning to investigate it. During a recent appearance on Fox News, for example, Rep. Comer said:

“Well, we wonder if the Secret Service had records now, that’s our next question. Because he still had Secret Service protection. And you would assume that the Secret Service would vet people that would be allowed on the premise of the dwelling for the President of the United States.

“So, there are other areas we’re going to look. I’m sure all of the records have either been destroyed or never existed to begin with. But at any rate, this is very concerning. The security cameras, remember the FBI, when they raided Mar-a-Lago, they also took the security cameras to look at security footage. Did they do the same with Joe Biden? We do know he has surveillance cameras there.”

Rep. Comer also showed his willingness to fight in a recent letter to U Penn, in which he demanded information as to different aspects of the University’s relationship with Biden and communist China.
