BOOM: FBI SUED Over Withholding Records Regarding Hunter Biden Laptop Story Suppression

America First Legal (AFL), a non-profit group that was founded by a longtime adviser to former President Donald Trump and a close ally of both Trump and the MAGA movement, just hit back at the FBI following the revelation that it used warnings of “Russian misinformation” to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story, a story that many on the right insist could have changed the result of the election if more people had been able to hear about and learn about it.

That revelation came from Facebook founder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself, who told podcast host Joe Rogan, when discussing why Facebook suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story when it first came out:

“The background here is that the FBI came to us – some folks on our team – and was like ‘hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election, we have it on notice that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that’.”

In the complaint, AFL argues that the Hunter Biden story could have been impactful on the election because of the information it contained about the Biden family’s connection to oligarchs in China and the Ukraine but that the FBI colluded with Big Tech to censor the story and keep it away from the public, helping Biden win. In its words:

Hunter Biden’s laptop contained explosive evidence of political corruption and strong evidence that now-President Joe Biden and his family were deeply compromised by their commercial and other relationships with the Communist Party of China and Ukrainian oligarchs.

[…]However, the evidence is that the FBI and Big Tech, including Facebook, colluded to interfere with the 2020 Presidential election first by falsely and maliciously labeling the laptop “Russian disinformation” and then by censoring and/or discrediting all news about its contents.

[…]For example, a recent letter from Senator Chuck Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson revealed that in August 2020, FBI officials initiated a scheme to downplay derogatory information on Hunter Biden for the purpose of shutting down investigative activity relating to his potential criminal exposure by labeling it “disinformation.” 

[…]Disclosures from multiple sources, including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, also confirm comprehensive collusion between Big Tech and the government to censor and control critical information in an effort to ensure Joe Biden won the 2020 election

[…]Most Americans believe that censorship of the Hunter Biden story may have significantly affected the outcome of the 2020 election.

[…]Now, barely a month before the 2022 midterm election, FBI officials continue to suppress information of great interest to American voters and stonewall AFL’s request for records relating to the FBI’s collusive scheme with Facebook to censor news and information about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.

That final, bolded sentence is perhaps the most important in the complaint, as it then goes on to ask the court to help it with a Freedom of Information Act request it sent to the FBI regarding its dealings with Facebook and the Hunter Biden laptop story. AFL is alleging that the FBI is withholding important records regarding that decision and wants the court to help it get them, or at least force the FBI to show why it would not provide them.
